I am impressed with your argument regarding synchronicity, Jean. You ought to allow as well from some free play, I think, as is shown in your interesting poem.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('483','Robert Mueller','I am impressed with your argument regarding synchronicity, Jean.
I am truly impressed with your analysis of "synchronicities," Jean, the attendant requirements of mental or hermeneutic strength and accountability. On the other hand, I'd just rather have all the fun I can and make my own synchronicities and devil and cohorts be danged. But who would care? That's the point, maybe some people would.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('482','Robert Mueller','I am truly impressed with your analysis of \"synchronicities,\" Jean, the attendant requirements of mental or hermeneutic strength and accountability.
Very nice poem, Velma Jean. Thanks for adding to the comments. Makes me think I need to do a post about Jung one of these days.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('477','Cuchulain','Very nice poem, Velma Jean.
Searching for George Spencer's essay on synchronicity, hoping to reread it, I experienced a fine one ( or, a serendipity, at least.): I.came across "Multiplicity, Faith, and History." It is what I needed to read today. And many days! Exquisite. Thank you!
I was intrigued when I read the essay and dialogue on synchronicity. a term coined by Carl Jung, I believe. I recall reading that Jung and the physicist Pauli. while working and thinking from disparate disciplines (and even languages, since mathematics is the "language" of physics) came to the same conclusion: i.e., a true synchronicity, they agreed, is not merely an acausal, but meaningful simultaneity of events; it always includes an attendant excitation of an archetype--a timeless manifestation of some sort, usually physical, as though from the heart of the universe. The following poem of mine, dating to 2006, perhaps expresses something pertinent to this topic:

Sudden lightning, skin-brightening crackle
simultaneous thunder, perceived as an after-
thought, ungentle reminder of its forerunner-
brilliant distraction-usurpation.
All this we know and have always known.
What I puzzle in full daylight now at last
is this: Did that vision of him,
features writing in heart-stopping
wrath, right hand gripping gleaming weapon--
steely-edged sword or mother of all knives?
(never a mere bodkin!)
He, poised above my sleepless single bed:
Did that vision accompany, in real time
the heard-moments-later four shrill blasts
of the heartless telephone dying
with a click...and
was that heavy breathing--or some last gasp?
